5 Best Scooter Routes in Bali, Starting from Canggu

Bali is one of the world's great islands to explore on two wheels — and from our base in Dalung, Kuta Utara, you're within a morning of surf beaches, clifftop temples, rice terraces, and volcano rims. These five routes are the ones we ride ourselves and recommend at every handover.

1. The Backyard Loop: Dalung → Canggu → Tanah Lot

±30 km round trip · easy · half a morning. Our shortest and best first ride. Cut through Umalas to Batu Bolong for coffee and a surf check, then follow the coast road north to the sea temple at Tanah Lot. Stay for sunset if you can. Perfect on any bike in the fleet — even the little Grand Filano handles it with ease.

2. The Cliff Run: Dalung → Uluwatu

±30 km one way · moderate · full day. Limestone cliffs, the clifftop temple, and the Kecak fire dance at sunset. Take the Nusa Dua bypass rather than the congested coast road and you'll be there in an hour. A comfortable PCX makes the highway stretches feel short.

3. The Green Climb: Dalung → Ubud → Tegallalang

±33 km one way · moderate · full day. Ride up through Mengwi and Payangan — a quiet, green approach the tour buses never take — to Ubud and the stepped terraces at Tegallalang. Leave at sunrise to beat both the buses and the midday heat.

4. The Volcano Day: Dalung → Bedugul → Kintamani

±60 km one way · moderate · full day. North through the lake country at Bedugul, then east to the rim of Mount Batur's caldera. The air cools with every kilometer and the view at the top is Bali's best breakfast backdrop. Bring a jacket. This is NMAX territory: the 155cc engine makes the long climb feel flat.

5. The Secret East: Sidemen Valley

±65 km one way · easy-moderate · overnight. Emerald rice fields under Mount Agung, near-empty roads, and villages where tourism still whispers. Too far to comfortably ride out and back in a day from this side of the island — take a weekly rental, stay a night, and combine it with Tukad Cepung waterfall.
