Scooter Rental in Ubud: The Complete 2026 Guide

Prices, licenses, delivery, where to ride and what to avoid — everything you need to rent a scooter in Ubud, written by a local rental team in Gianyar.

Ubud is the one place in Bali where a scooter isn't just convenient — it's the difference between seeing the town and actually living it. The rice terraces at Tegallalang, the waterfalls hidden in river canyons, the warungs your hotel concierge has never heard of: all of it sits a short ride away, far from where taxis want to take you.

We run Bali Easy Ride from Pejeng Kangin, ten minutes east of Ubud's center, and this is the honest, local guide we wish every visitor read before renting.

How much does scooter rental in Ubud cost?

Real 2026 numbers from our own fleet:

  • Honda Stylo / Yamaha Fillano (125cc retro): Rp 110.000/day
  • Honda PCX 160: Rp 140.000/day
  • Yamaha NMAX (155cc): Rp 150.000/day

Rent 7+ days and 10% comes off automatically. Rent 30+ days and you save 20% — a monthly NMAX works out to Rp 120.000/day. Anyone quoting dramatically less is usually renting you an older, harder-used bike; anyone quoting much more is pricing for tourists who don't compare.

Every rental with us includes 2 helmets and 2 raincoats, free, and we deliver at no charge across Ubud, Pejeng, and Gianyar Town.

What license do you need?

  • Indonesian citizens: KTP + a valid SIM C.
  • Foreign visitors: your passport plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) with the motorcycle category. This is Indonesian law, not our policy — and riding without it can void your travel insurance. Full details on our requirements page.

Which scooter suits Ubud?

Ubud is hills, hairpins, and the occasional steep hotel driveway.

  • For day trips to Tegallalang, Kintamani, or Sidemen, choose the NMAX or PCX 160 — the extra torque makes climbs effortless, especially two-up.
  • For café runs and town riding, the Stylo and Fillano are light, nimble, and easy to park on Jalan Raya Ubud.

Local tips most guides skip

1. Fuel is everywhere. Blue-labeled Pertamina stations are cheapest; roadside bottle stalls work in a pinch. With us, fuel policy is simple: return the bike with any fuel level — no topping-up ritual.
2. Park with the parkir attendants. Rp 2.000–5.000 keeps your bike watched and your mirrors attached.
3. Monkey Forest Road jams from 11 to 4. Ride before 9am and Ubud is a different, calmer town.
4. Rain is a schedule, not a problem. Afternoon showers pass in an hour — your raincoats are under the seat.

Why rent from a Gianyar local instead of a Kuta chain?

Because when something matters — an early airport handover, a flat tire near Tampaksiring, advice on whether the Sidemen road suits your skill level — you want people ten minutes away, not two hours south. That's the whole reason we built this.
